March is Theatre in Our Schools Month! This is the month that we celebrate the performing arts, and advocate for keeping our programs running in schools. In March, I will be posting 31 facts about the importance of theatre in our schools; one each day! Since I missed yesterday, I will be posting both day 1 and 2 today. In celebration of, once in a lifetime, 2/22/22 Kindergarteners also had fun working in pairs. They built projects in pairs, listened in pairs, grouped snacks in pairs, found number pairs and added doubles within 10.

The first graders had a fun day celebrating the fun date, 2-22-22. We discussed things that come in twos or pairs: socks, arms, nostrils, twins, Kit-Kats, and many more. We discussed different examples of palindromes: mom, noon, racecar, dad, wow, and more! We had snacks of 2 and 22. (Not necessarily nutritious, but fun!) We made Twos Day Crowns & made towers with 22 marshmallows & toothpicks. The last thing we did was create a Time Capsule to be opened on 3-3-33 of our senior year at JCNHS. 💚

The Scholars Bowl team went to state February 12th. Unfortunately, we ended up on the losing end of a three-way tie for 3rd place, giving us a 5th place for the event. While fifth may not have been what the team was looking for, 5th out of 64 teams in the state is still spectacular. Congratulations team!

Spread the word.... school is "in session" at JCN tomorrow. No need to stay up anxiously awaiting a phone call. Thanks to custodial/maintenance staff for having things ready for us and for drivers/parents making alternate routes as needed. Keep in mind drivers might be slightly off schedule tomorrow. Keep a watch out for them. Thankfully we missed the worst of this storm and hopefully spring weather is just around the corner. Be safe!

Good evening, this is Denise Jennings. There will be no school at JCN tomorrow, Thursday, February 17 due to the winter weather warning for our area. Again, there will be no school tomorrow. P.S. I believe Jack Frost is getting encouragement from our primary classrooms. Parents of all preschool, kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students, please remind your students they should not complete any more “snow dances” at school or at home the remainder of this school year. Even if their teachers encourage them to do so. 😊
