Congratulations to our girls basketball team who placed 2nd in the JCN Girls Mid-season Tournament. 3 JCN Girls were selected to the All-Tournament team. The team was selected by votes from coaches. Congratulations to Tera Wistuba, Claire Jobbins and Clara Johnson on being selected to the team.
Blind date with a book started Tuesday in the high school library. Eleven staff members and students chose their Valentine’s Day book date. We will have a date reveal party on the 28th.

In taking a poll at tonight's HS ballgames, there is an overwhelming amount of students that would like a snow day tomorrow! I'm glad to help them out..... There will be no school tomorrow, Wednesday, February 2nd. Enjoy a Snow Day and be safe!
FBLA Members had their Districts today!
January was a busy month in the high school library. Students came back from break and were met with several new books. We also have a reading challenge going on for students and staff, so far 28 challenges have been met. Every month there will be a drawing for anyone who completes a challenge. This month’s winner won a handmade mug and hot chocolate mix.
Tonight's Basketball games against McLouth have changed. Varisty girls will begin at 4:30pm followed by boys varsity. There will be NO JV games tonight. Please let others know.

First graders learned about Kansas and ended the week celebrating Kansas’ birthday with a sunflower cake. 🌻🌻
First grade enjoyed celebrating the 101st day of school with a Dalmatian day of fun. Children shared 101 Day Posters, dressed as Dalmatians, enjoyed 101 snacks, and finished the day watching the Disney classic, “101 Dalmatians”.

Jefferson County North USD 339 Names New Superintendent
The USD 339 Board of Education has announced the selection of Dr. Brad Kempf, as the new superintendent. Dr. Brad Kempf will take the reins on July 1, 2022 after the retirement of Mrs. Denise Jennings at the end of the 2021-2022 school year.
Dr. Brad Kempf was born and raised in Louisville, KY, and have been a Kansas resident since 2008. Since living in Kansas, he has enjoyed living in both Kansas rural and city settings and working with great communities. He is passionate about advocating for all Kansas students and public schools' needs at the State level.
Dr. Kempf has been in education for seventeen years and currently serves as the Interim Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources in Emporia USD 253. Prior to this, he served as West Middle School Principal in Lawrence USD 497 for five years, Emporia Middle School Associate Principal/Assistant District Athletic Director for four years. He also served as a PK-12 principal in White City in the Rural Vista District USD 481. His teaching experience includes roles as a high school teacher and coach in Tonganoxie, KS and Ft. Knox, KY. Prior to his career in education, he proudly served in the U.S. Army.
Dr. Kempf holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, History from Missouri State University, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Missouri, another Master’s Degree in School Leadership from Baker University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Baker University.

Kindergarten celebrated 100th days of school today. They had fun doing 100 exercises with Jack Hartman, wearing 100 day crowns, stringing 100 Fruit Loop necklaces, and making their own snacks with 10 pieces of 10 different items.
The JCN Varsity Scholars Bowl Team heads to MH-MA for the NEKL Meet Wednesday. Good Luck team.
Night one of the JCN Girls Tournament is over with a win from Rossville and Valley Falls. Tonight NE Kansas plays Perry (6:00) and JCN plays Oskaloosa (7:30).
