We are an agriculture-based community, and the bond will build a state-of-the-art Vo-ag classroom for our students. This project is vital to our students, the FFA program, and the school community. Providing students with the best agricultural learning space was the top project in our community survey.

The bond will install a new HVAC unit in the high school gym and theater area. Big events such as band concerts, athletic events, award ceremonies, and graduation often get hot, making many events unpleasant to participate in or attend. Bond = Gym HVAC.

Maggie Gaschen had her signing for Washburn University's dance team, the Dancing Blues. Way to go Maggie! Your team and coaches are so proud of you.

4th grade students had the opportunity to listen to a guest speaker discuss his job as a geologist. They also got to look at the many tools he uses in the field.

Have you ever noticed how dark the halls are at the high school? The bond will address lighting by updating to LED systems. The upgrade will provide better lighting in classrooms and hallways at the high and elementary/middle schools.

Did you know that in the last 12 years, the district has dropped its tax levy by 20 mills? The district takes pride in how we handle our tax dollars. Just a little over a week to election day! Check the video on stewardship: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IizsZAtdomE

Reminder: Preschool promotion is Friday, May 10th at 2pm at the EMS.

An updated secure entrance is a bond priority. We want to ensure our students and staff feel safe in the learning environment. These images are preliminary architectural drawings of what a secure entrance might look like in our buildings.

Roofing needs are evident throughout the district. These were identified in our facilities study, which was completed in March 2023. You can access the district facilities study here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11kfl1CA4GCy-7H9dndbj6LWIAL3k4t0h/view

Today's fire alarms are more than just a sound and siren to alert staff and students. New fire safety systems can accomplish many emergency communications. The current systems at the school buildings have reached the end of life and are no longer supported by our alarm company.

The bond will improve access to the football/track stadium so all patrons can enjoy our activities. Several ADA issues at our stadium make attending a game challenging for many community members.

High school bond projects include ADA access and parking lot improvements, restroom renovations, a new gym HVAC system, and a new Vo-Ag classroom. Other classroom additions will allow all high school classes to be in one building for improved security.

Did you know? During severe weather the high school in Winchester and the EMS in Nortonville are used as weather shelters. Keys are provided to local first responders to open buildings when a storm severity indicates the need. Please pass on to others in our community!

The start time for this evening's JCN band concert for 6th—through 12th grade has moved to 6:00 p.m. Students have a 5:30 call time. The time change was made due to incoming storms, which could be very strong this evening.

The bond will improve HVAC systems, roofing, lighting, secure entrances, and ADA accessibility throughout the district. Replacing aging systems will create better, more energy-efficient buildings.

Track Seniors and Parents, the Seniors and Senior Parent's recognition will be between the 400s and the 300 Hurdles tonight.
