Did you know JCNHS has FIVE students in the Jefferson County Fire Department High School Program? It's true!  As these students learn the craft of emergency response and fighting fire, they are also learning the importance of respectable character and school. As a requirement of the department, these students are expected to behave and stay on top of their studies. #JCNexcellence

The middle school book club is reading Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli, one of Mrs. Courtney's favorite books. Today we had star shaped sugar cookies made by high school teacher Ms. Halling and they were delicious! If you have a student in book club ask them about our current read.

The elementary/middle school library and Mrs. Courtney are ready for a new year. There are new decorations, new puzzles, and new books awaiting students. One of our new attractions is called "Meet the Reader" students can rent a shelf for one week and showcase their favorite book and tell a bit about themselves. My example is pictured.

This week's JCN highlight goes to our newly trained bus driver, JCNHS Ag teacher, Mr. Umphenour. On Thursday and Friday morning, bus students were greeted with an unexpected driver as he stepped in to sub for a daily route driver. JCN appreciates his willingness to spend his summer learning to drive and becoming CDL certified. Then, stepping in when needed to ensure our students got to school. Thank you for showing your #JCNexcellence!

Last week's JCN highlight went to Mrs. Avey and Mrs. Brown for bringing the excitement to EMS students on the first day of school. Dancing flamingos were not on anyone's bingo card to start the year. JCN appreciates your creativity, engagement and for making the first day memorable for students and staff. Thank you for showing your #JCNexcellence!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are thrilled to welcome our students and families back for another exciting school year at JCN EMS! Our staff has been hard at work preparing classrooms, planning engaging lessons, and ensuring that our building is ready for a fantastic year of learning and growth.

Important Information for the Start of the Year:

School Doors Open: 7:30 a.m. each day. Students should not arrive before this time, as supervision will not be available.
First Day of School: We will have an early dismissal at 1:00 p.m. on the first day to allow students to ease into the new year. There will be NO after school care on the first day of school.
Back-to-School Night: Please join us on Tuesday, August 12th, from 5:00–6:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, visit classrooms, and learn more about our plans for the year.
We are confident that this year will be filled with academic achievement, personal growth, and positive experiences for every student. We value the partnership between school and home, and together, we can ensure that our students thrive.
Thank you for your continued support, we look forward to seeing everyone on the first day of school!

Warm regards,
Dr. Bobbie Meier
