Auto-call Wednesday, March 18, 5:50 p.m.
Parents, I am so sorry the burden of COVID-19 has been placed upon you and your children. I have several items for this evening’s call:
1st - We received good news regarding the National School Lunch Program. This afternoon we were approved to provide meals for children. We will begin serving lunch tomorrow, Thursday, March 19. ALL CHILDREN, 18 years of age and younger, are eligible for a FREE lunch. Please remember Federal regulations state the child(ren) must be present when you pick up meals. We will be serving at the high school in Winchester from the BACK DOOR, (CHARGER COVE CONCESSION STAND) and in Nortonville the LUNCHROOM DOOR AT THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (by the flag). Students will be given a lunch for the day and a breakfast for the following day. There will be signage stating anything that needs to be refrigerated. You may pick up meals from 11:00-12:00 noon each day Monday - Friday.
2nd - We will be establishing dates and times for families to gather belongings from the buildings. I appreciate your patience as we work through a method to accomplish this following the COVID-19 social distancing expectations. If your child has a medication at school that is a more urgent need, please call the district office.
3rd - Teacher and administrators are in our planning phase of Continuous Learning for your children. We will be ready to begin roll-out the week of March 30th. We will be working through concerns of electronic/ internet usage from your homes and hope to have a good plan that will work for you all.
During this closure, please reach out if you are seeing any struggles from your child that may need support from our counselors or social worker. My office number is 913 774 2000.
This information will be posted under “News" on our website and app.
Thank you. My thoughts are with you all.
